Ok so, shopping around for baby stuff right now kind of feels like me trying to write a song. I have no idea what I'm doing and what to shop for. So I want to ask all mom's what their favorites are. Anything, strollers, diapers, blankets, binkies, cribs, clothes, your must haves, etc. Also stuff for being prego, maternity clothes, supplements, just whatever! I'm dreading mom jeans (Mom to be jeans). I tried some on and I felt as hideous as they seem to be to me. This whole metamorphosis of my body is not so cute to me. Doesn't help that I'm kind of always ornery, sick, but I somehow want to eat the grossest things, like a Big Mac or spaghettios and meat balls. Don't worry, I'll even eat those weird circus peanut candy things. I used to always think, "why do they even make those, and who would ever eat them?" The person who did make them, was obviously pregnant. I'll tell you what though, my favorite thing right now, every night taking a bubble bath while eating gobstoppers, and listening to music while playing solitaire. Heaven.

Well I'd love your input, so please spill the beans!!

Oh Liz, after doing this four times, I have a treasure trove of goodies for you! Not really, but a few things I learned in this last one is how great the Beband is! This thing saved me from "mom jeans". I just bought a cute pair of regular jeans (in a much larger size) then when you can't button them anymore you put on the Beband around and it holds them up, it's so great! Also, USA Baby has a pretty good selection of nursery furniture, and Babinsky Baby in Salt Lake has way cute stuff too. Good luck, and try to enjoy it, the first is the funnest!

Lol I am laughing so hard! I crave the most disgusting things too! I have opted out of mom jeans and gone for leggings. Jeggings are my new best friend! I hated my mom jeans with Vea! I think it makes everything feel worse! Also, babinskys is the best ever! you need to put a belly pic up!

Oh my gosh Liz! I just know exactly what u r going through! That stage is hard. When I would go shopping for baby stuff I would just get so much anxiety and sometimes even cry because I had no idea what to buy and I'm terrible at making decisions so I would just have to leave! So funny to me now. As far as clothes I get most of Brightons stuff at Gap cause it's cute and washes super well they will last through a few kids. Love my graco carseat and stroller! I could go on forever about things i like and dislike but I will spare u. We just need to get together! Duh!

my ultimate thing for when i was pregnant was awesome jeans. splurge. buy some citizens or something. you'll wear them all the time and they're comfy and a totaly must!
as far as baby stuff, buy up.when i was buying stuff for kylee i thought we would buy something nicer later. wrong. buy it nice now. if you dont, it will fall apart and wont last long.
there are a lot of things you dont need, like a bathtub thermometer that tells you when the bath is too hot. waste of money. also, buy consignment if you can for clothes. most of the clothes will be pooped on and spit up on and ruined. its not worth buying an outfit at gymboree for $20 when its just going to get ruined and maybe worn once. i also wish i invested in a BOB stroller. i'll last you forever!
good luck girl!

LIZ! I am so excited for you! I can't wait to see this little babe. When is your due date? I'm july 15th with another boy.... Here is my take on some purchases... I bought some paige premium denim maternity jeans and a pair of rocks, i wore mine for SEVERAL months (unfortunately) even after I had Preston so I figured it was worth it. My favorite purchase is my stroller, the uppa baby, i love it. My biggest negative/regret was buying the latest and greatest peg perego 300 dollar carseat that weighs a thousand pounds. It's not worth it (even though i think they have the best fabric and are the cutest). the car seat is so heavy its ridiculous, but its cute. Good luck with all the shopping. And i agree with purchasing the nice things now, you never know how soon number two will come along and you will use the stuff all over again, because even on birth control and breastfeeding preston, number two still found a way to come a lot sooner then i ever wanted or expected! :)

MY MUST HAVES: 1) CUTE BINKI STRAPS!!! For a boy or a girl (get like 5 at the next Holy Cow Boutique!)I couldn't get through a day without one, honestly! 2) CAR SEAT COVER! There is a website where you can pick out patterns and have it made - I will get that to you. 3) "HOOTER HIDER" ..if you are nursing, this thing is amazing! I recommend one made out of thicker material. 4) Lots of SHADE CAP SLEEVE SHIRTS, or ones like them. I love these shirts when I am pregnant. I wore one alone or under almost every day as my belly grew. Made me feel tighter or something... I don't know :) Kinda weird :) Hmmmmmmmm.... I will let ya know when I think of more!!! :)

I am going to have to agree with my sister! Buy some citizens. They were the best thing I bought for myself when my jeans were no longer comfortable. They will last through a few kids too. I started stocking up on diapers too when I found out we were prego and I just this month ran out. It was nice to not have to worry about it for a while. I would buy a few packs of newborn and stock up on size 1's and 3's. Also, I learned the hard way... save up your money! Don't go out and buy a bunch of pacifiers and clothes and play toys because you don't know what your baby will like or grow out of really fast. Just buy a few things here and there and when your little bundle of joy comes you guys can go out on shopping trips together and pick some things out. Especially when you know what they will fit in. My little girl is 8 months old now and still fits in 6 month clothing. So a lot of the summer things I got for her and winter things I got for her she wasn't able to wear in the right season. Good luck. You are going to be a wonderful mommy!

Oh Liz how I love you!!! I totally agree with Kenz wear leggings or jeggings... I bought a pair of jeggings that had the elastic band up top and they are super comfy and they don't feel like mom jeans! Also get what you want with your first baby because you wont for the second! My favorite little necessities were the gerber organic onesies!!! You can buy them at target and walmart and they are super soft and I thought they fit really well.
For binkies I loved the Avent. They are clear and they don't draw a lot of attention!
I also bought Avent Bottles and loved them as well.
Oh and my favorite baby lotion is baby magic! They only sell it at babys r us... mmmmmm good!

I would definitely say invest in a really nice breast pump if you are going to breastfeed. I would recommend the Pump in Style. It's almost $300 new but so worth it because it takes 10 minutes flat to pump! The less time you can spend feeling like a milk cow, the better :)

Some of my favorite things - Moby Wrap - I tried out so many baby carriers and always returned them, the Moby Wrap was a keeper - so comfy! I just wish I'd discovered it BEFORE my last kid so I could have used it more. A convertable crib is nice - it can go from crib to toddler bed to full sized bed headboard. My favorite stroller is a Schwinn jogging stroller, it can go anywhere and is so easy to push because of the big wheels - my front wheel can lock or not so it's versatile and easy to turn unlike other strollers. As for diapers, I've had better luck with the cheap ones or Luvs, compared to Pampers and Huggies - but that is total personal preference and what works with your baby. Um, that's all I can think of right now, but if I remember another favorite I'll share - good luck!

I forgot to tell you about Raspberry leave... You get it from good earth and its just a pill you take it seriously makes pregnancy so much easier! It also really helps with delivery and after.... Google it!

So I came back to your blog to read what people were saying and i have to say I've learned some things! Yay! I liked the Raspberry Leaf comment and the Breast pump comment. I got a crap hand pump and I swear I developed carpal tunnel. hahaha. It's bad, and all your friends will make fun of you. My sis has an electric pump and I was always SO amazed at how fast she was done pumping and she would have So much milk by the time she was done. I had low milk supply which was no fun and pretty stressful. Please bless that you don't have to go through that. You are going to be the cutest little Mommy. I'm SOOOO excited for you guys. Being parents is the best thing ever.

Liz,

I am so excited for you!! I laughed so hard at the picture of the cat and the lion in the mirror. That feeling is all too familiar. A couple of things that I have loved are:
vigoss jeans (they are not maternity, but I wore them my entire pregnancy. They sit really low and have great stretch to them.) I have a baby bjorn that I have basically worn out. (I don't have an ergo but I am going to get one to replace the bjorn. I have only heard amazing things about it.) The last two must haves for me are: a swing and a breast pump

Good luck!! I can't wait to find out what you are having.

I got a good pair of maternity jeans at gap and they don't have the belly band they are just shaped better around the belly. It's true I also crave meat and cheese while pregnant along with fastfood and anything unhealthy basically. I think a wipe warmer would be nice, I never got one but always kind of wished I had. Also i will tell you a few things about boys that I was never told until later and it's very useful.
